Recently, a story has moved and shocked the community because of the great joy: a young girl on a pilgrimage to St. Peter’s Basilica was surprised by Pope Francis personally stroking her head, kissing her forehead and praying for her.

Nearly a year after that sacred moment, a miracle happened — the girl was completely healed, making many people shed tears because of the clear experience of God’s grace through the hands of the Father of the Church.
Throughout his reign, Pope Francis has always been known as the Pope of mercy, especially his warm love for children. No matter what country or circumstance, he always gives special attention to children, like a true father in everyday life.
And it was that love that one day became the catalyst for a miracle that happened to an American girl – Grace West.

When Grace was 10 years old, a bright, energetic girl from Philadelphia was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. Treatment options seemed to be running out, and doctors were almost ready to give up, saying there was nothing more they could do.
In desperation, her family contacted the Make-A-Wish organization, and a seemingly impossible wish came true: to travel to Rome to meet the Pope.
The meeting lasted only a few minutes, but it was etched in Grace’s memory for the rest of her life: the Pope placed his hand on her head, kissed her forehead, and silently prayed.

He didn’t say much, but his peaceful presence made the girl – who was then carrying a death sentence – feel a strange sense of strength.
And then, a year later, a miracle happened. The doctors were amazed: the disease had completely disappeared. No trace, no scientific explanation can explain it.
For Grace and her family, it was a miracle – a miracle that began with the gentle touch and silent prayer of the Father of the Church.
Now, at 22, Grace West is an actress studying in New York, carrying with her not only a miraculous survival experience but also an unquenchable flame of faith.

When asked if she believed the Pope had contributed to her recovery, she replied softly: “I believe it was a combination of many things, but his presence gave me the strength to continue living.
That moment, at first glance, seemed like just a normal gesture of kindness from a pastor to a young believer.
However, few people knew that behind that gentle face was a girl who was seriously ill, with a near-zero prognosis for recovery.

Her family was exhausted both financially and spiritually, and the pilgrimage to Rome that year – although expensive – was their last hope placed in God, through the representative of Christ on earth.
And then the unexpected happened: almost a year after that meeting, the girl – who had been close to death – had completely recovered. There was no trace of the disease, no need for complicated medical intervention
Life was restored to the amazement of the doctors, to the tears of the family, and to the deepest gratitude to the merciful God.
Was it the Pope’s prayer that opened the door to the miracle? Or rather, was it the steadfast faith and absolute trust of the girl and her family – linked to the loving actions of the Successor of Peter – that became the “channel” for the outpouring of God’s grace?
We cannot scientifically confirm anything. But what is certain is that from a seemingly hopeless pilgrimage, a miracle has truly happened – not only in the healed bodies, but also in the souls of many people who are skeptical, tired, and doubtful about God’s presence in this turbulent world.

As reported,
In sorrow and Easter hope, the universal Church joins in prayer as our beloved Father, Pope Francis, passed into the Lord on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Casa Santa Marta residence in the Vatican. He was 88 years old.
At 9:45 a.m. (local time), Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Regent of the Apostolic Palace, solemnly announced the sad news to the Church: “Dear brothers and sisters, it is with profound sadness that I must inform you of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis. At 7:35 a.m. this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the Father’s house.”
Throughout his life dedicated to God and to Mother Church, Pope Francis has left a profound spiritual legacy, a shining example of fidelity to the Gospel, courage in ministry and immense love for all, especially the poor and marginalized.
In this moment of sorrow, we join in prayer, entrusting the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite mercy of the Triune God.
Previously, on Friday, February 14, 2025, Pope Francis was hospitalized at the Agostino Gemelli General Hospital after a prolonged bout of bronchitis. His health gradually deteriorated, and on Tuesday, February 18, doctors diagnosed bilateral pneumonia.
After 38 days of treatment, the Holy Father returned to Casa Santa Marta to continue his recovery. It is known that when he was young, the Holy Father underwent surgery to remove part of his lung in Argentina due to a serious respiratory infection.
In recent years, the Holy Father’s health has been frequently affected by respiratory diseases. He even had to cancel his planned visit to the United Arab Emirates in November 2023 due to influenza and pneumonia.
In April 2024, Pope Francis approved an updated version of the liturgical book on the rites of papal funerals (Ordo Exsequiarum Romani Pontificis). This new version, according to Archbishop Diego Ravelli, Master of the Apostolic Rites, emphasizes simplicity and focuses on expressing the Church’s faith in the Risen Body of Christ.
“This new rite is intended to further emphasize that the funeral of the Roman Pontiff is that of a shepherd and disciple of Christ, not that of a powerful person in this world,” he added.
With faith and hope in the Resurrection, we join in prayer for our beloved Father, Pope Francis, and ask the Lord to welcome him into his Kingdom. We also ask the Lord to grant comfort and strength to the Church in this difficult time.
